About

The Chilliwack Spinners and Weavers Guild was founded in the fall of 1974 by Mildred Renz, with the aim of sharing knowledge and bringing together people who enjoyed the old arts of spinning and weaving. The Guild became a non-profit Society in 2012. Since its founding, the Guild has participated in numerous community events, held workshops, and participated in regional and national conferences. The Guild
continues to honour its original aim of bringing people together to share their knowledge and joy of working with fibre and yarn.

The purpose of the Chilliwack Spinners and Weavers Guild Society is:

  1. To promote, encourage and improve the art and craft of weaving and spinning within the community.

  2. To provide an opportunity for the sharing of knowledge, skills and ideas among the members of the Guild.

  3. To keep improving work in order to achieve and maintain the highest possible standards of excellence in all work.

  4. To collect current literature and other material relative to the craft for use by our members.
